In honor of the grand opening of MVSB’s new branch office in Settler’s Crossing in North Conway, the community was invited to vote for a local nonprofit to receive a special $1,000 donation. Many nonprofits were nominated, but it was Eastern Slope Ski Club (ESSC) that received the most votes in the contest.
ESSC promotes skiing and riding in the Mount Washington Valley and provides instructional on-snow days for both downhill and cross-country skiing as well as snowboarding. ESSC also provides equipment for students in grades 1-6 who may not have the opportunity to participate in and learn the sport if it were not for the program.
“We received votes for so many wonderful organizations that serve the Mount Washington Valley, and we were inspired by the overwhelming passion and love that local residents have in support of their local nonprofits,” said Jessica Ruel, MVSB Branch & Business Development Manager in North Conway. “Eastern Slope Ski Club perfectly aligns with our community’s passion for outdoor adventure and we hope this contribution allows them to provide even more opportunities for local children to enjoy the winter on the slopes.”
“It is so fulfilling to teach the kids a fun activity that allows them to be outside, connect with nature, learn life lessons and gain confidence alongside their peers,” said Dan Osetek, MVSB Senior Vice President, Senior Commercial Loan Officer, who has served as an Eastern Slope Ski Instructor for the past three years. “We appreciate all of the votes we received and are excited to partner with many more amazing local organizations doing vital work in our community.”
Founded in 1935, the Eastern Slope Ski Club is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the promotion of skiing. Each year, the Junior Ski Program has more than 350 volunteers and supports more than 900 elementary school children. Over its long history, many great skiers including Olympians have participated in the program.
