Volunteer Spotlight: Tina Simpson Gives Time & Talent to Support Women, Youth in Her Community

If you were to cheer at a local girls’ softball game, attend a nonprofit fundraiser, or participate in any number of other local charity events – there is a good chance that you will see Tina Simpson there showing her support and lending a hand.

Tina, MVSB Vice President, Commercial Loan Officer, is proud to serve on the Board of Directors for New Beginnings – Without Violence and Abuse. This nonprofit organization serves throughout the Greater Lakes Region and is dedicated to ending sexual, domestic and stalking violence through a variety of services, emergency refuge, support and social change.

“New Beginnings is a vitally important nonprofit that does a lot of work behind the scenes for those in need,” said Tina. “Volunteering my time and helping to raise money for this great cause is personally fulfilling and I am proud to be a part of something that makes a difference in the community and gives local women and families a safe place to have a fresh start.”

Recently, Tina attended the New Beginnings second annual Golf Tournament at Lochmere Country Club in Tilton.

“Our two big fundraisers are our golf tournament and our annual gala, with all funds benefiting those who need our services,” said Tina. “It is always fun to find unique ways to raise funds while getting the community involved. We hope everyone learns more about how to support and give back to this wonderful organization.”

Tina has also been a volunteer softball coach in the Lakes Region for more than 10 years. What started out as her subbing in at the last-minute has turned into a decade-long passion that she couldn’t be prouder to support.

“Coaching is a worthwhile time investment that has allowed me to create lasting memories with all the young girls and also spend quality time with both of my daughters,” said Tina. “The girls are learning not only fundamentals of the game, but important life skills such as responsibility, teamwork and tenacity that they will carry with them into adulthood.”

She also connects with Inter-Lakes students as a regular volunteer for MVSB’s school savings program, where she assists with promoting the program to students and families and accepting deposits on weekly bank days.

Her volunteer work continues beyond her formal roles and Tina is often first to raise her hand when support is needed at local events, like Hands Across the Table and the Greater Lakes Region Children’s Auction. Hands Across the Table offers a free hot meal every Wednesday evening for those seeking food and/or friendship and support. And the Greater Lakes Region Children’s Auction is fundraising organization that supports children- and family-focused nonprofits throughout the Greater Lakes Region.

Tina joined MVSB in 2014 as a Quality Control Analyst and has worked her way up to her most recent promotion as Vice President, Commercial Loan Officer. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and her Master of Business Administration degree from Southern New Hampshire University. She is also a graduate of the Northern New England School of Banking and the New England Center for Financial Studies at Babson College.
