Merrimack County Savings Bank (The Merrimack) announces the winner of their 2nd Annual Dog Days of Summer photo contest. When put to public vote on Instagram, Ellie, an 18-month-old Yellow Labrador Retriever, secured the most “likes” of the top five finalists. As The Merrimack’s top dog of 2023, Ellie earned herself $500 and $500 to her local animal rescue nonprofit of choice, The Humane Society for Greater Nashua.
“It was such an honor to have Ellie nominated by the public as winner of The Merrimack Dog Days of Summer,” said Leslie Burnham, Ellie’s Owner. “We are excited to use this opportunity as a way to give back to our community with a donation to assist our local animal shelter.”
“We are grateful for the support from Ellie and her owner, it means so much to our organization,” said Kateland Nowakowski, Director of Volunteer Resources, Humane Society for Greater Nashua. “This generous donation will help us pay for medical care, behavior training and even surgeries to ensure every single animal receives our love and compassion during their stay with us.”
To enter, participants had to photograph their pet(s) wearing The Merrimack’s branded #MerrimackStyle bandana and tag @MerrimackStyle on Instagram. The top five finalists that went up for public vote also campaigned for a local animal rescue to receive a matching donation.
The top five finalists were:
- Alice – Doberman Rescue Unlimited in Sandown
- Ellie – Humane Society for Greater Nashua
- Lela – Humane Society for Greater Nashua
- Ms. Lilly – Mary’s Dog Rescue in Northwood
- Scout – Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire in Bedford
